Hello friends! I hope you are enjoying the Christmas season with family and friends.
It's no secret Instagram is my favorite social media platform, so for the past two years I've been able to generate the best nine posts for the corresponding year via a third-party website. I was happy to learn that my 65 posts for the year received 4,180 likes compared to only 39 posts for a total of 305 likes in 2015. Wow! It's not so much about the likes my photos received (well, maybe a little), but mostly because that many more people saw my photos.
The way the top nine are selected is based on number of likes. Being proud of the personal and professional projects I've been a part of for 2016 can make it a little tricky selecting your best work for the year (it's like picking a favorite child ;) ), but Instagram did a pretty good job of doing that for me so here are the best nine photos:
Mike and Maggie | Engagement
When I first met Mike and Maggie, they knew exactly where they wanted to do their engagement photos. Maggie's late father had built a bridge in Moore State Park in Paxton, Massachusetts, which is no wonder this lovely park holds a special place in her heart.

Taken at the end of October, this session was definitely a favorite for the year. After months of wardrobe planning this adorable (and fashionable) family and I had a whole Christmas tree farm to ourselves. Although it got a little windy towards the end of the session, the sunset was truly spectacular.

Margarita | Portrait
This year Margarita had a birthday milestone and what better way to celebrate than to give herself a portrait session! We had so much fun planning her wardrobe, and when the day of her session came, pampering was the order of the day. This silver fox certainly is a gem and I was proud to see her shine.

Fast Track Photographer | Book
Back in May, my husband and I took a trip to North Carolina. During that trip I had enough time to read the book Fast Track Photographer: The Definitive Approach to Successful Wedding Photography , which is not only full of great tips on starting your photography business, but it empowers and encourages photographers to follow your passion, no matter how many road blocks one may find. This spoke to me in a deep way, and it seems like it spoke to many others as well, as it made it to my top photos of the year.

Rebekah and Kevin | Engagement
These two lovebirds' story was beyond inspiring. They went to college together, but it wasn't until 2013, during their school's basketball league, that they officially met. After beating him at a game of basketball, he was impressed by her character and skills both on and off the court. This post hash tagged "loveandbasketball" got lots of love on Instagram.

This beautiful ballerina session was definitely one of my best work this past year. I did the session an hour before sunset, and there was something about the glow that day that just made the photos much more magical. To see the rest of the session visit this blog post.

Josue and Christine | Engagement
This session had a special meaning to me. The groom, is my childhood friend and I was beyond honored to be able to spend time with him and his beautiful girlfriend Christine at none other than Harkness Park in Waterford, Connecticut. They travelled all the way from Philadelphia for a fun weekend that included gorgeous weather to match. Fun Fact: This was the only landscape photo on the list!

William | Lifestyle
This photo was not taken in 2015, but it made a comeback because I just had to share that sweet and funny expression on this little guys face. My hunch proved to be right, as this was the second most liked photo this year! I've been lucky enough to photograph him on multiple occasions and I have to say, it's guaranteed fun every single time.

Lauren and Joey | Engagement
This session was such an adventure! I had to go incognito with a telephoto lens on a beach where there was literally nowhere to hide. It didn't matter, as I was determined to document the surprise proposal Joey had so carefully planned. After she said yes, they were both glowing, which is no surprise why this photo was the most liked for 2016.
